Codenames is a unique word play in which players have to find associations with words. The rival secret services know the secret identities of the 25 spies. Their teammates only know these spies under their code names. Both teams compete with each other and try to make the first contact with their spies.

Every secret service chief gives an indication by mentioning a word that relates to several words on the table. His teammates try to guess the words of their color without betraying the enemy spies. And of course everyone wants to avoid the assassin.

With code games you literally play with words. Team Blauw and Rood compete with each other to find out the names of the spies. To begin with, each team appoints its head secret service that takes a seat on the other side of the table. He or she then chooses 25 random cards and 1 key card. The cards are placed on the table and the key card will determine which spies names must be guessed. It is up to Head Secret Service to come up with synonyms now and to pronounce it aloud. Have you been the first to guess all the spy names or will the assassin's map be designated? Then the game is over.
